Taylor, Charles
Charles Taylor
Clinical Assistant Professor, Division of Clinical Dentistry, Clinic Lead, is the Course Director of the Clinical Responsibilities series of courses for the pre-doctoral dental students and a clinical Group Leader. He has served as a clinical and pre-clinical instructor in various capacities. After many years in private practice, he joined the º£½Ç´óÉñ School of Dentistry as a faculty member in 2000. He maintains a private practice outside the dental school and sees patients in the º£½Ç´óÉñ’s Faculty Practice. Dr. Taylor is a 1989 graduate of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

Teitel, Andrea J.
Andrea J. Teitel
Assistant Director, Nurse Anesthesia, teaches regional anesthesia and advanced principles of nurse anesthesia. She has a BSN from Michigan State University and an MS from Wayne State University. She joined the faculty in 2007.

Thanik, Daman
Daman Thanik
Clinical Professor, Division of Graduate Education, teaches a clinical orthodontic segment modeled after his own practice treatment philosophy, in addition to lecturing in several dental and postgraduate orthodontic courses. He.is a senior clinician and a American Board of Orthodontics’ Diplomate. Dr. Thanik´s life-long learning career in dentistry spans 60 years. In the period between 1952-1967, he completed two D.D.S. degrees-one in India and one in the Canada, two masters-one in basic science and one in oral biology, a certificate in orthodontics, a one year clinical dental Fellowship (pediatric dentistry), and a two year internship in the oral surgery department at Genesee Hospital at the University of Rochester. He belongs to many orthodontic organizations in the U.S. and Canada, and has received several awards for his work in orthodontics. Dr. Thanik joined the University as a part-time instructor in 1971 and became a full time faculty member in 1995.

Linda Thiel O.P.
Associate Professor, McAuley School of Nursing, teaches nursing at the Grand Rapids campus. She earned a BSN and MSN from Purdue University-Calumet and a PhD from Catholic University. Her area of expertise is evidence-based research and nursing practice.

Thomas, Roberta L.
Roberta L. Thomas
Associate Professor, McAuley School of Nursing, teaches nursing at the Grand Rapids campus. She earned her PhD from Wayne State University. She has extensive background in medical-surgical nursing and oncology. She is also a nurse practitioner in psychiatric mental health.

Thomson, Joshua J.
Joshua J. Thomson
Assistant Professor, Division of Integrated Biomedical Sciences, teaches Infectious Diseases for Dental Hygiene and Microbiology and Infectious Diseases II for dental students. Dr. Thomson received his Bachelor’s of Science from the º£½Ç´óÉñ Department of Biology in 2009. He then went to Wayne State University School of Medicine where he received his Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbiology. His dissertation research, under the guidance of Dr. Jeffrey Withey, was focused on transcription regulation of virulence genes in the pathogenic bacterium Vibrio cholerae in response to environmental stimuli. His postdoctoral and continued research focuses on the mechanisms of serum resistance in Yersinia pestis, the causative agent of plague. His additional research focus is to discover, identify, and characterize novel bacteriophages that specifically target cariogenic bacteria for potential use as therapeutics. Dr. Thomson is involved in coordination of summer undergraduate research at the Dental School. Dr. Thomson joined Detroit Mercy Dental in 2014, starting as full-time faculty in April 2017.

Thompson-Sloan, Tamika
Tamika Thompson
Clinical Associate Professor, Division of Clinical Essentials and Simulation, Division of Clinical Dentistry, Division of Graduate Education, serves as a course director for Clinical Periodontics for the DS3 and DS4 students and is also course director for Periodontal Therapy I and II with the DS 2 and dental hygiene students. She also works with the Graduate Periodontics Program. Dr. Thompson is interested in community service and participates in a number of community related activities. She is also interested in research, and future publications. She proudly serves veterans as a periodontist at the John D. Dingell VAMC She holds a D.D.S, M.S. and a Certificate of Periodontics from the º£½Ç´óÉñ. She joined the º£½Ç´óÉñ as a faculty member after completing her periodontal residency in 2012.

Tubbs, James B.
James B. Tubbs
Professor of Ethics and Chair of Religious Studies, teaches applied ethics, particularly in health care. Tubbs’ publications and professional presentations deal primarily with Christian theological ethics and the moral issues in biomedicine and health care policy. He serves on several local Institutional Ethics Committees and Review Boards. Tubbs holds a Bachelor of Science from Hampden-Sydney College, and a Master of Arts and doctorate from the University of Virginia. He joined the University in 1986.

Turner, Jill A.
Jill A. Turner
Associate Librarian, Reference, School of Dentistry Library, provides reference services, instruction in database searching and research skills instruction. Her collection development areas include nurse anesthesiology, nursing, doctor of nursing practice, physician assistant, and health systems management. Jill holds a B.S. degree in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters of Library and Information Science from Wayne State University. She joined the University in 2010.
