Certificate in Nursing Education

The Nurse Educator certificate program at 海角大神 is a 14-credit program that provides qualified nurses with the opportunity to gain specialized training in areas such as curriculum development, instructional methods, program planning, and evaluation.  Nurses that are interested in careers in nursing education or staff development, will benefit from the knowledge and skills they will gain from the program.

Nursing education courses, offered as part of the nursing education certificate, may be required for students who are funded by the Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP). Student who have an interest in teaching can select nursing education courses as an additional elective or pursue the post-baccalaureate nursing education certificate.

  • Admission Criteria

    1. A baccalaureate degree in nursing or another field.
    2. A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75.
    3. A minimum of 2,000 hours as a registered nurse in the state of Michigan.
    4. Official transcripts from each institution of higher education attended.
    5. One letter of professional recommendation from someone in a supervisory capacity.
    6. Current resume or professional CV.
    7. An autobiographical statement of personal goals and objectives.
    8. An interview with graduate faculty.

    • NUR 5850 Curriculum Development (3 credits)
    • NUR 5790 Nursing Program Planning and Evaluation (3 credits)
    • NUR 5780 Nursing Curriculum and Instruction in Adult Education (3 credits)
    • NUR 5860 Instructional Methods (3 credits)
    • NUR 5960 Teaching Practicum (2 credits)

    Total: 14 credits
